Can this browser test measure exact hardware PWM frequency (e.g. 960Hz)?

No. Modern operating systems and browsers cap frame rendering to display refresh rates (e.g. 60–240Hz). Physical microsecond PWM dimming frequencies (often 500Hz–20,000Hz) require specialized optical photodiode sensors or high-speed camera slow-motion video.

How do I test for PWM flicker with a smartphone?

Point your smartphone camera at your monitor in Pro / Manual video mode with shutter speed set to 1/1000s or faster. If dark horizontal scrolling scan lines appear on camera, your monitor uses PWM backlight dimming.
